Peltier Defense Committee 'Winnie Mandela makes her journey to the Spirit World'

On behalf of Leonard Peltier who is currently locked down, we the International Leonard Peltier Defense Committee with great sadness write these words in tribute of Winnie Madikicela Mandela who today made her journey into the spirit world.

Women have always answered the call to be warriors for their people, Winnie was no different. For 27 years Winnie fought for the freedom of her husband, Nelson Mandela, while continuing in the struggle to end apartheid in South Africa. Our history books immortalize the efforts of Freedom Fighters around the world but in many cases it’s the men whom are remembered.

Winnie, was not only a Freedom Fighter but also a Political Prisoner who suffered under the State Security Services of South African. She went on to be a leading figure in the ANC and was considered by her supporters as “The Mother of the Nation”.

Let us be inspired by her journey on Mother Earth to fight the injustices that all People face in their struggle for Sovereignty and Right of Self Determination.

We send our prayers to the creator for Winnie in hope that her
spirit has a safe journey. As Leonard has always said, “Winnie has always supported my struggle for freedom. And I am forever thankful for her support and love.”

In the Spirit of Winnie Mandela and all Warrior Women

The International Leonard Peltier Defense Committee
